NurtureShock gets a rave review from Psych Science

Delightful.... this engaging volume, in its mix of pitch-perfect science writing and soft-pedaled guidance for parents.... [is] a rewarding and an entertaining excursion." A former Editor in Chief for Psychology Today, Herbert also writes Newsweek's column, "Mind Matters."

Hello.
I wasn't sure how to contact you otherwise so I'm posting here with my complaint: couldn't you have published this a little earlier?
For years I've argued with my parents about their constant praise and my Dad says he never understood until he heard a bit on the radio and bought your book yesterday. Unfortunately, I'm turning 18 in a few weeks and I'm off to college even sooner so there is not much more raising to be done.
Thank you though, for the message, even if it's too late for me.

Hi karen,
we did publish much of this science in New York Magazine in early 2007. Sorry your family missed that, but perhaps it wasn't early enough anyway. What's fascinating is that Carol Dweck has been doing this science and finding these results since the earliest 1990s. She did get some press mentions, but it never stuck in the public consciousness - her ideas never got traction. Only in the last couple years has the world really woken up to what her science is arguing.
