NurtureShock debuts at #10 on the New York Times Bestseller list

Thanks, readers, for such a strong initial boost for our book! In our first official week of sales, (some sales were triggered prior to publication date because of the All Things Considered feature), we came in at #10 on the Nonfiction list. Thanks again!

I just saw your blurb on CNN and thought one thing you siad was spot on. My children are being raised in a military community. For the past 5 years we have been stationed in Japan. For 3 years we were at a small Army Post where the high school population was about 350 students. I thought the kids were all very much friends with all races. Small schools need everyone to participate in sports, drama, music etc. We moved last year to a big AF base school on Okinawa and the races seem so much more divided. This is the first time (I have 6 sons and a daughter) that we haven't had a culturally diverse group of kids coming to our home. I asked my 16 year old if he had any black friends and he said no that everyone seemed to stay with their own group. So interesting to me. I can't wait to read your book, today was the first time I heard of it!
